On 14 May 2026, the Deputy Director-General for Finance, Administration and Support Services (FASS) Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey inaugurated the Audit Committee of the Judicial Service of Ghana on behalf of the Acting Director-General, Mr. Thomas Thompson-Aryee.
In his address, the Judicial Secretary, Mr. Musah Ahmed Esq., stated that the inauguration of the Committee was in line with Section 88 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921). He further noted that the Committee plays a crucial role in promoting sound financial management within the Service.
Mr. Ahmed concluded by stating that the mandate of the Audit Committee extends beyond ensuring compliance, as it also seeks to promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and excellence within the Service. He assured the Committee of Management’s full support and added that members dedicating themselves to advancing the interests of the institutions ultimately serves the broader interests of Ghana.
In a speech delivered on behalf of Mr. Thompson-Aryee, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey outlined the mandatory and advisory responsibilities of the Audit Committee as stipulated in the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, 2016. He highlighted ongoing reforms within the public sector, including the Commitment Authorization process and the submission of Commitment Compliance Checklist Review Reports (CCCRR) to the Internal Audit Agency for onward transmission to the Minister for Finance.
He concluded by urging management to provide the necessary support for the effective functioning of the Committee.
